Overview

I worked on several areas of the C2 platform, focusing on simplifying operational workflows for mission users and improving the consistency of the overall interface. My work included the Additional Document Request flow, document review and configuration tools, as well as a broader UI refresh supported by a new design system.

Creating a Document Request

Mission users can create an Additional Document Request when applicants are required to provide further supporting documents for a visa application.

The form was designed to make it easier to add applicants and select required documents such as bank statements, travel itineraries and other supporting materials.

I also explored a more flexible variation where different documents could be requested from individual applicants within the same request. This approach was ultimately not implemented due to project timeline constraints, but helped explore how the workflow could support more complex cases in future.

Review Submitted Documents

Once applicants submit the requested documents online, mission users can review each submission directly within the platform.

The workflow allows reviewers to approve, reject or cancel individual documents while maintaining visibility of their current status. Rejected documents can also be requested for resubmission, allowing the review process to continue without creating a new request.

The design focused on making document status, available actions and next steps clear throughout the review process.

Manage the Document List

Administrators can maintain the list of documents available when creating an Additional Document Request.

Documents are organised into categories and can include items such as hotel reservations, insurance documents, bank statements and travel itineraries. Administrators can add or modify both categories and individual documents, with the configuration adapted where required for different Visa Application Centres.

This provides mission teams with a structured but flexible way to maintain document requirements over time.

Refreshing the C2 Interface

The existing interface required a stronger visual connection to the organisation's brand identity while remaining appropriate for a functional enterprise application.

I explored several visual directions before a preferred approach was selected: a transparent sidebar, a brand-coloured sidebar, and a mission-specific banner treatment.

Following the selected direction, I redesigned the platform screens and created a reusable design system covering colour, typography and common interface components. This made it faster to apply the refreshed visual language consistently across the product.

Before & After

The refreshed interface introduced clearer hierarchy, more consistent component behaviour and stronger alignment with the organisation's visual identity.

The same design system was applied across key areas such as the dashboard and Additional Document Request pages, allowing the platform to evolve without redesigning individual screens independently.
